Laboratory of advanced metal matrix composites fabricated by powder metallurgy
- Laboratory size hydraulic press set-up (proprietary tool design and build) designed for powder compaction by direct and indirect extrusion, equal channel angular pressing (ECAP), and uniaxial pressing. Container diameters range of 20-30 mm. Adjustable and monitored temperature (up to 500 °C), ram speed (up to 10 mm/s) and compaction pressure (up to 1.5 GPa). ECAP tool (90° angle, 20 mm diameter) equipped with adjustable backpressure. Various extrusion dies.
- Semi-industrial size extrusion hydraulic press FOGG AND YOUNG. Container diameter / length of 65 / 285 mm. 350 t press capacity. Adjustable and monitored temperature (up to 500 °C) and ram speed (up to 5 mm/s). Various extrusion dies.
- Semi-industrial size friction screw forging press FICEP PVX160. Free forging, quasi-isostatic die forging (55 mm diameter die). Equipped with vacuum forging chamber.
- Semi-industrial vacuum / protective gas electric furnace. Heating zone with the diameter of 400 mm and length of 940 mm. Vacuum down to 10Pa, temperature up to 700 °C. Tailored for nitridation of porous powder precursors. Equipped with nitrogen flow meter.
- Laboratory size various tube vacuum / protective gas furnaces (Carbolite, Classic CZ, proprietary design and build). Vacuum down to 10-2 Pa, temperature up to 1500 °C.
- Ball-milling machines Retsch PM400 MA-type and PM100.
- Glove-box M-Braun (storage and processing section).
- Gas atomizer (proprietary design and build). Capacity 750 g of Al powder production. Temperature up to 1000 °C.
- Rotatory swaging machine Felss 22-0371F. The dies with 21 mm down to 1 mm diameter.
- Rolling machine Durston FSM 200 (flat/profile).
- Powder plough type blender Loedige L5-10-20W.
- Turbula T2 F powder shaker.
- Industrial size cold isostatic pressing (CIP) wet bag device EPSI 400 – 300*750 Y. Diameter 300 mm, length 727 mm. Pressure max. 440 MPa. Including powder filling equipment.
- Lab size CIP wet bag device (proprietary design and build). Diameter 40 mm. Pressure max. 200 MPa. Including powder filling equipment.
- Vacuum hot press (proprietary design and build). Diameter of containers 20 mm and 30 mm. Compaction pressure max. 600 MPa. Vacuum down to 20 Pa. Temperature up to 500 °C.
- Surface area (B.E.T.) and pore size analyzer NOVAtouch LX2.

SmartGrid
- SmartGrid – Testing Laboratory of Renewable Energy Technologies consisting of PV system (29 kW photovoltaic power plant, PV panels, inverters, batteries, trackers, etc.), heating/cooling system (boreholes, heat exchangers, heat pump, heat storage), control system (algorithms and strategies for effective production, storage and consumption of energy).
- Electric Vehicle Battery Tester EVT 300-600-80kW for tests of batteries and other electro-chemical power sources in a way that all standard tasks can be realized. The functions are charge and discharge with freely selectable current, power, pauses and repetition of a test procedure as a whole or in parts (cycling) and the registration of the measured data.
- Ground-water heat pump (the coolant is heated by the ground through four dry 100 m deep geothermal wells), heat output: 28 kW, cooling output 23 kW, electrical input: 6 kW.
